The festival needs YOU! I’ll replicate the content from the official site here in case you fancy being part of the team who make the Pboro beerfest what is is. I’ve had a tipple at the staff bar (when I was judging last year), and they do look after you – the grub looked cracking too!
The Beer Festival is staffed by unpaid volunteers and just over 300 people help us at some time or other. However, that simply isn’t enough. We need more volunteer staff – remember that up to 10,000 people come through the gate on the Friday evening.
But don’t think that you have to work behind a bar – though we do need lots of bar staff – there are plenty of other jobs to be done. We start with a green field site each year which means that we have to organise marquees, fencing, stillaging, bars, offices, toilets, shop, information area, electrics, stage, tables and chairs, banners, signs and posters… The list is endless – If you think you can help in any way, then please volunteer – You don’t have to give up the whole week (unless you want to) but the more days you can help the better. We are always short of volunteers on the Friday and saturday evenings and tend to have more than enough on the opening evening.
Our helpers get some free beer, very cheap or free food while on duty, free tea, coffee and soft drinks at all times, buses home at night North and South of Peterborough, a Beer Festival glass, discounts on festival clothing, some discounts with food vendors, camping facilities, good fun and a chance to meet new friends with an interest in real ale.
Please note that you must pre-register. You cannot just turn up and expect to work.
If you are still not tempted then take a look at last year’s menu for the staff restaurant. Don’t forget that luch time and evening food is just £1.00 a meal .Tickets can be purchased on the staff bar..Some free beer is available on the staff bar where you can expect to find beers that are not available to the general public.
You will be supplied with a Staff Handbook before you start work. But you can get a copy here if you wish.
You will also be supplied with a copy of the national CAMRA Volunteers Handbook. But you can get a copy here.
